The National Statistical Institute has the pleasure to submit to the attention of users of statistical information the publication Statistical Review of Smolyan District 2005. The publication contains up-to-date statistical information on the demographic, economic and social development of the district for the 2000-2004 period as well as some comparative data for the municipalities.
Of great interest for the users are the data on persons employed, number of employees under the Labour Code and on the Civil Service Act; average annual salary; costs for acquisition of long-term tangible assets; development of economic activities (industry, agriculture, residential construction, transport, trade).
Data on very important indicators that define the standard of living of the population are presented in the different thematically divided sections of the publication: income, expenditure and consumption; education; culture and arts; healthcare and tourism.
The publication contains also statistical data that characterize the district's demographic processes of the population, its territorial-administrative units and environment.
Trends of development of some substantial for the district indicators can be found as graphs in a special annex to this publication.
The annual and periodical statistical surveys are the main source of the information.
For the correct interpretation of the data, users should take into account the methodological notes included in the publication.
